Glacier Lake Outline (GLO) for Norway mapped from the year 2018. Glacier-dammed lakes (also called ice-dammed lakes) can cause hazardous outburst floods. Such floods are also called jøkulhlaups or glacier lake outburst flood (GLOF). By using remote sensing based data and methods, glacier lakes that cause concern and represent hazard potential can be detected and monitored. GLO is defined as water bodies that either intersected, or were within a distance of < 100 m or were completely within the glacier boundary (GAO). Only glaciers larger than 0.25 km2 were considered.en_US
